For our first class of Year 2 we need to cover week 35 from Year 1. So this means we will cover the Middle Ages (Please watch the Schaeffer video for the Middle Ages on youtube) and Thomas Aquinas. Please bring BOTH syllabus books with you for this first class. See you soon!

Ok, we're off and moving forward! lol We will finish up Middle Ages (make sure you have watched the Middle Ages video on youtube) and Thomas Aquinas today, along with the History of the Church CD. Go ahead and also watch the Renaissance video on youtube and answer the questions on page 3 of The Renaissance. (Note: Obviously you are not "students new to our program" on Introduction page 13-20 so ignore that assignment.) We will do music and art in class (The Renaissance page 5-6), but you will need to do pages 7-9 (in my book this covers Chapter 3 "the Renaissance" by Schaeffer and the background info on Dante.) Also, go ahead and begin reading Dante's Inferno (Hell). It MUST BE FINISHED by Sept 9 (you get an extra week b/c of Labor Day - use it well. When you finish, keep going - read Purgatory.) Remember - we're not going to MAJOR on this, just look for the effects of Dante being a student of Aquinas, who was a student of Aristotle. What does it mean to have Greek philosophical teachings brought into the Church Teachings? What does it mean when a Roman poet leads you through Hell and Purgatory?? Also, make sure you have read in your World History books up through chapter 6 by next week. (I'm breaking this down to make you get through this.) See you next week!
